There are two ways you can grade an assignment in Blackboard, Needs Grading or through the Full Grade Center. Needs Grading 1. Login to Blackboard and click the course where you want to grade assignments. 2. Scroll down to the Course Management menu on the left.

On the Grade Details page, you can view a student's attempts and grade history, assign and edit a grade, and clear and exempt grades. Access a grade cell's menu and select View Grade Details. View attempts and feedback In the Submission panel, you can see which attempts have grades and feedback. Select the attempt you want to view. Your submission opens, and you can view your grade and how it was calculated.

You can enable anonymous grading for assignments and tests that don't contain the built-in question types. You may add only text and files to anonymously graded assignments and tests. Student names are hidden while you grade and are revealed only after you post all grades.

To view grades for all of your courses, select the arrow next to your name in the upper-right corner. In the menu, select My Grades. You can sort your grades by All Courses or Last Graded. If your work hasn't been graded, grade status icons appear.

The Grade Center is accessed from the Control Panel in any Blackboard course. Click the arrow to the right of the Grade Center menu link to access the full Grade Center. *Note: If you have created an Assignment, Test, or other graded assessment, the corresponding column will automatically be created.
Go to the Grade Center and use the drop-down menu next to the column header to choose "Show/Hide to Users". You should now see a circle with a slash through it in the column header for that item in the gradebook. Do not choose "Hide Column" because that hides it from yourself - not from students.

External grade column You decide which column is set as the external grade. In new courses, the default total column is the default external grade column, and the External Grade icon appears in the column header. You can't delete the default total column until you set another column as the external grade.

You can send email reminders from Grade Center columns to students and members of groups who have missing coursework. Students receive a system-generated email that lists the course, coursework, and the due date if you assigned one. You receive a success message at the top of the screen when the email is sent and a copy of the email for your records.
When you allow multiple attempts, you may not need to grade all of them. In the grade cell's menu, each attempt appears with one or two icons. If you chose to use the first or last attempt for the grade, the attempt you need to grade appears with only one icon—the Needs Grading icon.
You can exempt a grade from a student's record and the grade is ignored in all Grade Center calculations. The grade cell displays the Exempt icon. You can also apply an exemption before a grade is assigned. If you assigned a grade and then exempted it, the grade remains available on the Grade Details page.
