Manually created columns are used for graded items completed outside of Blackboard. To manually create a new column: Click on the Grade Center under Control Panel. Select Full Grade Center. Click Create Column and complete the form that appears on the screen.

You can exempt a grade from a student's record. When you exempt a grade, the grade is ignored in all Grade Center calculations. The grade cell displays a blue square. The grade remains available on the Grade Details page, and you can clear the exemption at any time.

You can use course group smart views in two ways: Students use the groups to collaborate with other students and complete group assignments. You create smart views to track their progress. You create a group to track a set of students who aren't performing well on assignments and tests.

Click on Grade Center in the Control Panel to reveal the drop-down menu.
Click on the Create Column located in the gray row of buttons near the top of the page--you should now see the Create Grade Column screen shown in Step 3 below.

If you enter “0” as a value for points possible and enter the grade as the grade will display as entered, formatted as a number with two decimal places. If you enter a grade as a percentage it will display as entered without the % sign.
The name cannot be longer than 15 characters.
