4.0 scaleEven though the general application instructions say you do not need to convert your GPA, the School's admissions committee wants your GPA to be on a 4.0 scale. You do not need to recalculate your GPA if it is on your transcript on a 4.0 scale.
Princeton does not officially compute or certify grade point average or maintain class rankings. However, the following may be useful if you are asked to submit a GPA as part of an application.

A+ or F Grades Junior Independent Work, Senior Thesis and Senior Departmental Exam should be submitted on paper. Forms are available in the Registrar's Office, you may send completed forms via campus mail to the Office of the Registrar.

Is a 3.9 GPA Good? GPA is scored on a 4.0 scale. So strictly speaking, a 3.9 GPA is just a tenth shy of a perfect score and demonstrates academic excellence in every class.
Is a 4.0 GPA good? A 4.0 is an entire point higher than the national average GPA. In general, a 4.0 is the ideal GPA, as it means you've worked hard to achieve A's in all of your classes. In the case of unweighted GPAs, a 4.0 is as good as it gets.Dec 18, 2019
