Known issues

The Learning and Teaching Systems team are aware of the number of known issues created with the changeover from Crocodoc to New Box View which we have highlighted below. We are working with the vendor to resolve these issues as quickly as possible.

Why the change?

Box bought Crocodoc, the former 3rd-party product Blackboard used for inline grading.

Is there anything that I have to do?

No. All student submissions and associated annotations will automatically be converted from Crocodoc to Box by 12pm on Jan. 11th.

What can I expect after the change?

Box does not currently allow students or faculty to download and print annotations. Box is working on a solution for this issue.

Do you leave a comment in a comment box?

When users make a comment with several line returns (carriage returns), they do not remain in the comment box. The text appears as one long sentence instead. Users are reminded of this absence of functionality so they can prepare comments accordingly.

Can annotations be downloaded offline?

Following the transition to New Box View, new annotations and comments cannot be downloaded for viewing offline. Screenshots of annotations can be taken, but because the annotations only appear when one hovers their mouse over the correct area, it is only possible to screenshot one annotation at a time. Using a third-party tool to do annotations, such as MS Word and track changes, will enable users to download a file if that is needed. This can be attached in the Feedback to Learner section, vs using the inline annotations. It will, however, still be possible to download the original submissions.
