Integrated Blackboard Syllabus Builder

Downloading approved syllabus templates, copy and pasting content, uploading to Blackboard—sound familiar? Publishing syllabi in Blackboard has become an involved process on some campuses that rely on manual operations for creating and tracking syllabi. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be this way.

THE SOLUTION IS SIMPLE

Simple Syllabus helps instructors save time and eliminate redundant tasks associated with syllabus creation in Blackboard.

Integrated Experience

The Simple Syllabus publisher is seamlessly embedded within Blackboard, leveraging the Learning Tools Interoperability standard for maximum compatibility.

Highly Configurable Templates

Simple Syllabus empowers schools with an online, easy-to-use template builder that establishes required syllabus components directly within Blackboard. Completely personalize the template to your institution’s needs by creating and configuring as many dedicated component areas as needed.

Power Personalization

Give instructors complete control and autonomy of the areas of the syllabus that matter most to them with writable rights. Configure syllabus components to be optional and let instructors decide whether to include them or not in their syllabus template.

Content Carries Forward

Save instructors substantial time by remembering their work. If an instructor teaches multiple sections of a course in Blackboard, or has previously published a syllabus for a class in a former term, the software will pre-populate their current syllabus with their most recent content for edit and review.

Quick Retrieval

Retrieving your institution’s syllabi from Blackboard and exporting them for reporting has never been easier than with Simple Syllabus. Each syllabus record embedded within Blackboard offers a print to PDF option for individual printing.

iFrames display PDFs right in Blackboard

Some documents (e.g., the syllabus, the course schedule, etc.) may be frequently viewed by students. It can be a little time-consuming to have to download a document in order to, for example, view a due date. Embedded PDFS, using iFrames, will display the document right within blackboard. Multipage documents will include a scrollbar.

Embedding external site content via iFrame

You may experience difficulty adding embedded content from some sites via iframe. Pasting iframe embed code into the HTML box in the content editor may not save as expected for some sites.

Embedding PDF files from the content collection

If you embedded files previous to Summer 2019, security changes affected the process for embedding files. Please follow these steps.
