How do I opt back into Blackboard?

Users can opt back into: Phone calls: Call the Blackboard Phone Hotline at "855-502-STOP (855-502-7867)" from the phone line that has been opted out. Test (SMS) messages: Reply START to "60680" from the phone line that been opted out for non-emergency messages.

What is an opt out footer?

Opt-out footers are included in any non-emergency message. These footers allow recipients to opt-out via touch-tone by pressing 9 when the system recognizes a “live” person has answered the phone. If the system detects an answering device a message will be played directing the recipient to call the Blackboard Opt-out Hotline. Opt-out footers will be played in Spanish for Spanish messages and in English for all other messages.

Can you opt out of emergency calls?

Recipients cannot opt out of Emergency Calls using either the touch-tone opt-out or the Opt-out Hotline. If a recipient wants to opt-out of these calls they must call the school/district.

How do I opt-out?

Most schools use the "opt-out" inclusive access model, which opts students in by default. If your school allows you to opt-out, you can follow these steps before your course's add-drop deadline.

I forgot to opt-out before the deadline. Can I opt-out late?

To avoid the Inclusive Access charge, you must opt-out before your course's add/drop deadline. Your school and professor will make the importance of this deadline very clear.

I dropped the course before the deadline, but I still got charged. Can I opt-out late?

As mentioned above, we can't allow opt-outs after the add/drop deadline. Your school, not RedShelf, handles billing, and late opt-outs interrupt their billing process. If you dropped the course before the deadline and still got charged, please send us a screenshot of the charge on your account.

How do I know if I'm opted in or opted out?

The steps to checking your opt status start the same way you'd opt-in or opt-out:

I opted out, but I changed my mind. Can I opt back in?

You can opt-in/opt-out as many times as you want before the add/drop deadline. After that deadline, your opting status becomes permanent.

If my course has multiple products, can I opt-out of some but not all?

As of right now, opting out of one product opts you out of all materials for that course. There's not currently a way to selectively opt-out of individual products. If you're enrolled in multiple Inclusive Access courses, though, you can pick and choose to opt-in or out by course.
