In spring 2019, Cornell will begin to transition from Blackboard to Canvas as its academic learning management system (LMS). The decision to move to Canvas came after a yearlong review of Cornell’s LMS needs.
The Canvas@Cornell license extends to Cornell faculty, students, and staff. Courses designed primarily for use by people other than Cornell faculty, students, and staff (such as courses offered by Cornell Cooperative Extension) are not covered under our existing Canvas license.

In 2017, The Center for Teaching Innovation recruited faculty to test out different LMS's, including Canvas, Blackboard Ultra and Brightspace.
