All registered classes at Mason are assigned a Blackboard course shell on the Mason server. To locate your Blackboard courses, go to MyMason (https://mymason.gmu.edu), log in using your Mason ID and two-factor authentication, and click on the Courses tab.
Log into Blackboard Learn and enter the course. In the Course Management menu under Customization, click Properties. Under Set Availability, check the radio button next to "Yes" for Make Course Available. Click the Submit button.
The instructor has not yet published the course for student view (most common reason). The student has not yet successfully registered and paid for the course. There may be an issue with the student's enrollment. The student may have a hold on his/her record.

Blackboard is a course management system used campus-wide at George Mason University.
Guest Access provides limited course access to view course materials in specifically designated content areas. Certain areas of the course are never available to guests. The areas that cannot be accessed include communication areas such as discussion boards, journals, blogs, or wikis.
By default, guest access in Blackboard is disabled for all courses. If you want someone with an existing Mason user name to be able to access certain areas of your Blackboard site, without having to be enrolled in the course, you can enable guest access. A user without a Mason username can be provided a link to your course.
Please note: Even when creating a Zoom session inside of a Blackboard course, Zoom sessions and recordings are not limited to students in the course. Students could share the information with anyone, like any Zoom session that does not use additional security settings. You must still use information in the above links to secure your session.
Students can now access the session via the Zoom tool in your Blackboard course. You do not have not have to, although you could, send them the join link since they will see the session information in Blackboard. Please note: The session link inside of Blackboard is NOT completely secure.
Your Mason Zoom account comes with a single personal meeting room that is always available. Click Personal Meeting Room in the Zoom Meeting tool to edit settings or enter poll questions. Students do not see this tab and cannot access your personal meeting room.
In the Grade Center and other locations, instructors can view when a student last accessed their course. Sometimes an instructor may see course accesses even when the course has never been available to students. This is caused by a bug where when a student clicks the "More Information" arrow for the course on the Courses page.
Student assignment submissions can be viewed directly in Blackboard for the instructor to read and comment on. Occasionally the formatting of the student submissions is changed slightly when the file is converted to display in the browser. The issue is sometimes seen by changing the spacing surrounding endnotes and footnotes.
