How do I refine my results in Blackboard?

Show search tips. Results will be returned that contain all of the terms entered. For example searching for bus schedule would return anything that contains both bus and schedule in any order but not only bus or schedule by themselves. Searching while you are within a course or group will return results found within that course or group.

Why community education at MHCC?

Have taken the COVID pre-screening tool or be subject to a short screening questionnaire. Wear a mask at all times. Be subject to social distancing and cleaning measures for their area. Students are reminded to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and should not report to campus if they feel unwell for any reason.

Course Search Instructions

Using Course Search, you can view a list of courses MHCC offers for a selected term. To view all courses for the term, select the term and click search. This will produce a full list of every course offered for that term. To view details of a course, click the link for that course.

Distance Education Offerings

1. Online - Scheduled : these courses will be fully online, and will include both participation in Blackboard as well as mandatory scheduled, online meeting times using Zoom.

What are some outdoor skills?

Demonstrate professional competency in one or more outdoor skills (i.e. rock climbing, rafting, mountaineering, leadership, etc.) Plan and implement high quality and safe adventurous learning experiences/trips for others in a variety of activity areas.

What is a WLEE?

The MHCC Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education (WLEE) program will foster the education of individuals to become outdoor leaders, guides, and teachers competent in providing an outdoor experience in various activities and environments. The WLEE program provides students with opportunities to learn technical skills in climbing, mountaineering, high-angle rescue, kayaking, rafting, and more. In addition to the technical skills students are given opportunities to practice leadership skills, as well as the concepts and theory behind adventure education.

Do you need to own equipment for a field trip?

Students do not need to own all their own equipment. The program has all equipment necessary to participate in field outings. Students only need to have good hiking boots, insulating and base layers. The program is able to provide high quality backpacks, sleeping bags, tents, stove, etc. at no cost to the student.
