When creating a timed test, you have the option for Blackboard to Auto-Submit the test after the time limit is reached. Your answers are saved on the page. When you return, you can resume working. However, if your instructor added a time limit, the test auto-submits when time is up.
If the student exceeds the time (for a non auto-submitted test), an exclamation point is listed in the grade center and the instructor has the option of adjusting the grade based on the time. It is recommended to set the Timed Test option without using the Force Completion option for Blackboard exams.
Within the grade center, locate the student and the column for the test. Hover in the cell that contains the student's attempt, and click on the chevron that appears. Select the attempt you wish to view from the menu that pops up.Mar 4, 2019

If a student's test is paused for more than 20 minutes, the student will not be able to access prior questions.
You can use the Resume feature to allow a student to continue within a test he or she exited before finishing it. If the student successfully signed out of the test — after you resume the test — the student can resume testing on any testing device without losing response data.
