The Associates in Science in Psychology (ASP) program is designed to provide students who have an interest in Psychology the opportunity to explore the breadth and depth of different areas of study that fall into the field of Psychology.

Career and Educational Opportunities

Psychology is one of the most popular and fascinating majors in college. The program is primarily designed to prepare students to continue their Psychology education at a four-year institution. An associate degree in Psychology can be the first step toward a service-oriented careers.

Admissions, Curriculum, and Graduation Requirements

Students must complete 60 credits in the program and achieve a minimum grade of “C” in all core PSY designated courses (*). Students must achieve a final GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Required Technology

The Associates in Science in Psychology is steeped in the use of technology both in the classroom and for specific assignments. To this end the following technology requirements are set forth for all students who are matriculated into the program.

According to the American Psychological Association, the following categories of learning outcomes should be addressed within the curriculum of a Psychology degree. This information has been cited from the APA Guidelines for the Undergraduate Psychology Major, Version 2.0 (August 2013).

DESCRIPTION

The Associate in Arts Degree in Liberal Studies is the result of the Community College Partnership between the Maine Community College System and the University of Maine System. The AA in Liberal Studies is a program designed to assist students in exploring career, educational interests, and in preparing them to transfer to a 4-year institution.

Mission & Outcomes

The Associate in Arts Degree in Liberal Studies provides students with a strong foundation in general education, thereby preparing them to transfer to a four-year college or university in pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree, transfer to an Associate in Science or Associate in Applied Science degree in a community college program, or enter the workplace with knowledge and skills necessary for a variety of career choices..

Graduation Requirements

Students in the AA program are required to complete COM 104 and ENG 101 within their first 15 credits. Of the 18 General Elective credits required, 9 must be taken at the 2xx level. A 2xx-level course in the same discipline will serve to meet the criteria of a 1xx-level elective.
