The New Blackboard Content Editor. The release of software version 9.1 Q4 2020 (3900.0) brings with it changes and improvements to the Content Editor in Blackboard Learn. Adding content has been simplified, and it works better on both hand-held devices and larger screens. There are several improvements for accessibility and some new features, too.
Sep 30, 2020 · The Blackboard Content Editor appears nearly everywhere you can input text - discussion boards, assignments, essay questions, journals, blogs, wikis, and email (only Add content (+) is not present for email). There are many reasons to like the updated Content Editor. Adding content has been simplified.
Blackboard's Content Editor is a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor that allows you to add and format text, insert equations, hyperlinks and tables and attach different types of files. The editor appears throughout the system as the default text editor and is available in simple and advanced modes.

Edit Mode allows instructors to manage their courses. This button is located in the upper‐right corner of each Course area. With Edit Mode ON you can easily manage course content. With Edit Mode OFF you see what your students see.
New course announcements appear immediately when you enter a course. You need to close the New Course Announcements window before you can view course content. After you close the window, it won't appear again. If your instructor posts new announcements, the window appears again with the new announcements only.
You can add content from the Content Market directly to the editor in your course's assignments, tests, and documents. In the editor, select Insert/Edit LTI Item. Select a tool to launch and browse for content to add. Or, select the plus sign on the Institution Tool's card to add the entire tool in the editor.

Add custom HTML or CSS Select Add HTML as a new block to embed an inline third-party HTML editor in the document. You can write or paste HTML code into the editor and select Save. The encoded HTML will be sent to Learn within BbML for persistence. The HTML will be denoted in the BbML with a new data-bbtype.
When Edit Mode is ON, you see all the course content and the editing controls for each item. Edit Mode OFF hides the editing controls but still displays any content that would normally be hidden from a student. Also, it doesn't enable you to see student-only content, such as My Grades.
