Before registering for classes, all online students must complete their online orientation through their myUT portal. Orientation will introduce you to resources available to you as an online student and prepare you for success as a new student!

This webpage includes many resources for your time during Orientation. Please review these in advance of your session so that you're able to effectively refer to the items and ask any questions.
If you attend Session N, you will meet with your Academic College during Orientation, and advising and course registration will occur in the week after (November 15-19).
Step 1: Register to attend a New Student Orientation session. Registration for and frequently asked questions about New Student Orientation should be directed to the Office of New Student Orientation. All new students must attend Orientation to be advised and register for courses. Step 2: View the Pre-Orientation Videos.
For summer 2021, there will be remote (virtual) versions of all available language exams each Monday from May 17 - July 26). For the week of Memorial Day, the test will be on Thursday instead of Monday.
Upon registering, students will receive an email confirmation with details about the exam. Please note, the exam will be available for 24 hours on that date and may only be taken one time.
You must take the Math Placement Test no later than 3 business days before orientation. You will record your placement test score (s) on your Pre-Orientation Advising Worksheet and being the completed worksheet with you to orientation. Learn more about or register for the Math Placement Test.
You can view the information in the modules as many times as you want throughout the summer to best prepare. Virtual Advising: You will have a virtual, 30-minute, one on one meeting via Microsoft Teams, with an academic advisor within your academic college, between 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., the day of your scheduled virtual orientation session.
Virtual Advising: You will have a virtual, 30-minute, one on one meeting via Microsoft Teams, with an academic advisor within your academic college, between 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., a week before your scheduled on-campus orientation session. During this meeting, you are free to ask questions and enroll in classes.
All new students must meet with an advisor in order to enroll in courses. If you have questions about your major, area of interest, minors, or anything related to your degree plan or schedule, start keeping a list and the advisor will be happy to help you when you meet with them.
