CanvasCanvas is a cloud-based, vendor-hosted learning management system (LMS). Based on positive results from pilot studies and campus feedback, Canvas was adopted as the single, centrally supported UW-Madison LMS in 2016. Canvas is part of the Learn@UW suite of learning technologies.
In addition, the Learn@UW KnowledgeBase offers helpful documents for instructors, course owners and students. For Canvas, Kaltura MediaSpace, AEFIS, Engage, Pressbooks, Atomic Assessments, Turnitin and LEAD, the DoIT Help Desk provides users with free tech support and troubleshooting help.
Waterloo LEARN is based on software from the Kitchener-Waterloo company called Desire2Learn (D2L).

Developing independent learners is important to help students advance in their academic performance and stay motivated.
