After September 1st, Blackboard will become an “archive” environment with restricted access. No classes will be taught in Blackboard for fall 2021 or beyond.

RANT: useless emails fill me with rage

Ever since the pandemic started, my institution has been sending out DAILY "wellness emails" containing Zoom links for "mental health workshops," articles on "work-life balance" (HA), virtual yoga/meditation/"relaxation" videos, and now recipes. RECIPES.

9th Graders in college classes

One of my campuses has decided that we will allow NINTH graders to concurrently enroll in our college courses. I have one this summer who started the class before he had even finished 8th grade. (Which is a whole nightmare in and of itself.)

Student athletes reversed

I have always been baffled when low-performing students (or their advisors) tell me that they are "student athletes", which means that if they are very bad in class they get a free pass, because they are so important for the football team or whatever.
