I have worked with both Moodle and Blackboard. I finally settled for Moodle for many good reasons. Blackboard is humongous company trying to dominate the online learning platform industry, unlike Moodle that is free, community developed, and has the essence of "education for all". I also disagree with one of the answers that Moodle is not as sophisticated as Blackboard.
