In the March release Blackboard includes new features that improve the learner and instructor experience for assessment, and grading. We have made a series of improvements to the workflows related to learning modules including Microsoft OneDrive document linking.

February 2022 Release

The February release includes several new features. Pronoun Customisation now includes a new field so that users can include pronunciation and even add a short audio clip. Granular course copy in an Ultra course now includes content from Original courses.

January 2022 Release

This month's release includes updates for Bb Annotations, Ally File Transformer in Blackboard Assist (global availability) and Blackboard Assist (business/government availability).

December 2021 Release

Point-based and point-range rubrics now provide increased flexibility for grading. Accommodations support instructors to specify extra time for students on timed assessments. Banner images now have the option of an image description. Group Sets provide an option to change the visibility for custom or random group sets.

November 2021 Release

The visual appeal of courses has a major boost this month with the course card image from base navigation now able to be used as a course banner in Ultra courses. As part of planned diversity, equity, and inclusion improvements, this release gives institutions the option to allow users to express their personal pronouns.

October 2021 Release

You can now add a table in the Rich Text Editor! This has been a much-asked-for feature and we are really happy to make it available in this release. Students need a way to ensure their work has been correctly submitted into the system. The new Submission Receipt feature in Ultra provides students with a unique tracking number.

September 2021 Release

Evaluating student-submitted content is a continuous job critical to the learning process. We know it's important to instructors and graders to improve the content view and create a practical grading process. That's why we keep enhancing grading workflows.

When will Blackboard Learn be released?

Release date: July 9, 2020. Depending on your institution’s Blackboard Learn configuration, your landing page in the app now matches the web experience. You'll see either the activity stream or course list based on what your institution selected as the default landing page.

When will the Activity stream be released?

Release date: October 19, 2020. The activity stream has been refreshed and is now quicker than ever. You can now pull to refresh to get the latest content from your stream and courses. Alternative formats are now available for attachments in content items for Original courses.

Familiar tasks

Your experience and knowledge as a classroom instructor are invaluable when you teach online. You can use many of the tools in Blackboard Learn to accomplish the tasks you're familiar with in the f2f setting.

Fully online

Participants don't meet face-to-face in the classroom but interact entirely online.

Hybrid or blended

Participants still meet for scheduled class or lab time, but the amount of time is reduced. For example, you teach a course that normally has three classes per week. If you add some online aspects, you might require only two classes each week.

Web-enhanced

Participants meet in the classroom for the scheduled hours of the course, but you add some instructional activities online.

What is the manager icon on a course?

What is learn 9.1?

Starting with this Learn 9.1 release, the name will shift from using the quarter/year as the name to a version number to align with the SaaS release model. There is also a new monthly release cadence for Learn 9.1 that will include bug fixes and feature improvements. These monthly releases will replace Cumulative Updates which will no longer be issued for 3900.0. You can choose any monthly  9.1  release and take improvements and bug fixes at any time. You do not have to wait until the next big  twice-yearly release  (Q2/Q4) to get an improvement you've been waiting for.

Why is there a warning on grading schemas?

When grading schemas are complex and use smaller points possible values that aren’ t whole, results can be unexpected since numbers are not rounded and explicitly use 5 decimals. The warning message is meant to help users understand they should review the results.
