Education has the power to transform lives and societies. At Blackboard, we believe learning is a right, not a privilege.
Blackboard’s mission is to advance learning with the world's education community, so that all learners, educators and institutions can realize their goals today and prepare for tomorrow.
Our portfolio of products and services support learners throughout their life-long journey.
Blackboard is a customizable online learning tool that can replace or supplement traditional face-to-face classes for a school or any other classroom structure. Many conventional classroom functions have equivalents in Blackboard Learn, allowing students and teachers to emulate just about every physical classroom experience element.
Instructors can post content, including files, text, images, audio, and video, in their courses. That content can then be organized using learning modules, folders, or lesson plans. To help students navigate their course content, instructors can post a syllabus with descriptions of the course materials, assignments, grading expectations, and more in a section of the course menu or elsewhere within a course.
Blackboard Learn is compatible with screen readers, and pages are designed to follow a common structure to allow quick navigation.
Wikis can help course members build a shared repository of knowledge. As the knowledge base grows over time, you can expect the wiki to have some degree of seriousness and permanence.
You can use wikis as course content or graded assignments for these types of activities:
To get started, you need to create a wiki topic in your course. Your students and other course members can add pages to that topic.
A wiki topic page is the home page where all other wiki pages are collected. The home page is automatically displayed first when a student visits the wiki.
After you create a wiki, the wiki topics appear in alphabetical order on the Wikis listing page. Select a column title to sort the contents.
Each newly created course or group wiki requires a home page. When you access a new wiki topic for the first time, you're prompted to create a home page. The home page always appears first in the wiki page list and the content appears when someone navigates to the wiki. Because the home page is first, you may want to add instructions here.
