Since covid we’re still doing at home testing in college. I wasn’t proctored today and a lot happened. My parents have been fighting a lot, I don’t have a car and I’m still a minor, and they kept fighting during my exam. We live in a small place and I was at the only table we got, in the dining room.
In lecture today my professor got flustered because he kept messing up writing from his notes and said “this is what happens when you have to wear a mask and don’t wear your glasses” and I’ve noticed his mask doesn’t fit him the best.
Perhaps this is too similar to one of the FAQs but I think it may be different enough. I’ve been working toward my Philosophy bachelor’s and was talking with a professor about wanting to go into teaching philosophy. He told me about how difficult it was for him and that I should look elsewhere for careers if I can.
I was interviewed for a tenure track position about a month ago. I emailed the chair of the search committee about the status of the job search. Nothing. This is not the first time this has happened. Why don’t faculty communicate with candidates? Is it because they have moved on but don’t want to waste time in emailing me?
In my college, I’ve been told that all professors can see our college grades, but can they also see our high school records (ACT scores, AP scores, repeat courses, etc)? I’m just curious because I want to know if they are already aware of how badly we struggled in some topics.
