BLACKBOARD.COM During Summer 2000, DePaul chose to adopt BLACKBOARD.COM’s course management software. This course management software permits students to access course handouts, course assignments, and homework solutions. In addition, there are a wide variety of communication vehicles offered.
DePaul’s Learning Management System will be upgraded to version 8 on the weekend of November 29/30. The new version of Blackboard has significant improvements. The notable features are: Wimba integration. Each Blackboard course has a corresponding Wimba room. Improved discussion board Enhanced Gradebook New quiz and assessment methods
DePaul no longer supports Blackboard Collaborate (known as Online Rooms). The change in support was announced about a year ago, but Online Rooms was still available in D2L until very recently. Online Rooms has been replaced by a built-in-tool called YouSeeU (known as Virtual Classroom in D2L).
D2L is the developer of the Brightspace learning management system, a cloud-based software suite used by schools, higher educational institutions, and businesses for online and blended classroom learning. The company is also the developer of Open Courses, a Massive Open Online Course platform.

The Student Support Services (SSS) program provides advising, academic assistance, mentoring and career-related services to qualified undergraduate students at DePaul. BlueStar is an online system that supports students’ academic success by helping to connect students to advisors, instructors and other DePaul resources. Faculty members use BlueStar to allow students to schedule appointments online, record notes from meetings, send messages, refer students to other offices, assign tasks for them to do, offer kudos, and, most importantly, to raise flags that indicate some kind of concern about a particular student's performance. This is an intensive week-long program for high school students interested in the film, television, or game industries. Participants receive hands-on instruction using the latest equipment and technology and are taught by full-time DePaul faculty with real-world experience.
Three six-week intensive programs in documentary filmmaking, game and graphic design, and movie/TV scripts are designed for Chicago Housing Authority teens participating in One Summer Chicago. CDM graduate students have the opportunity to teach and learn as student mentors for the programs.
