An orthopedic surgeon turned accomplished academic leader, Akins now begins her journey as the new vice provost of UWG, employing her unique perspective and remarkable skillset to help ensure a positive impact on the lives of students.
When UWG’s Office of Community Engagement was created in 2015, Amanda Wright was present to help shape its mission and vision as program coordinator. Today, the office is known as Public Service and Outreach, and Wright has grown alongside it, recently being named its director.
It’s been said that networking is a contact sport, and no one knows that better than the UWG’s College of Education. Offering world-class opportunities, the Department of Sport Management, Wellness and Physical Education recently graduated its second Master of Science in Sport Management cohort. And although this graduate degree is 100 percent online, the networks established aren’t just for Wi-Fi.
