How do I log in to BlackBoard Learn?

Following the recent move to Single Sign-On, the way you log into the Blackboard and Blackboard Instructor App has changed.

Use the Web Login button

The Blackboard app now directs you to use a Web Login (highlighted in red below).

I can't see the Web Login button

Note: If you don't see a Web Login button at the bottom of the app window, tap on the institution field (highlighted in red below) and delete 'University of Ulster.' Then search for ‘Ulster’. From the list of institutions shown on screen, select 'University of Ulster' again. The Web Login button should then be visible.

When will Blackboard Learn change?

On the 14th June 2021, the way you log into Blackboard Learn will change. Blackboard Learn will have the same Single Sign-On process you use to access the MyDay Portal and University E-mail. For more information, please see our Blackboard Single Sign On support page.

How long does it take to access Blackboard?

If you have just completed registration, you will have instant access to Portal services and University e-mail, however, access to Blackboard Learn typically takes 24 hours.

How to find my network password?

Finding your network password 1 Log in to Self Service Banner using your student number B number and Banner PIN number 2 Select the Personal Information tab 3 Then select the View Student ID, Password and Email Address link to see your assigned network password

Why are we changing how you login?

The main reason we are switching authentication methods is to ensure alignment with Ulster’s cyber security work streams. Blackboard Learn will now work with Multi-Factor Authentication (and the Authenticator app). This will add an additional layer of security to your Blackboard Learn login.

What if I encounter problems with Single Sign-On?

How will it work?

As of the 14th June, if you are logged into the MyDay Portal and select the Blackboard Learn tile you will be directed to the main Blackboard Learn login page with the option to Login using SSO * (*Single Sign-on). Look for the Login using SSO button (highlighted in red in the image below).

What you can do to prepare for the switch in authentication?

If you login via the MyDay Portal, you don’t need to do anything else except to remember to logout when you have finished your Blackboard session.
