University Extension is the continuing education branch of UC campuses, pproviding innovative learning programs to adult learners in California, across the U.S. and throughout the world. University re-entry allows non-graduated UC students to resume a path to a four-year degree.
XB and XBW: Extension credit course that is equivalent to a UC Berkeley campus course with the same content, title, number and credit value offered to UC Berkeley students.
UC San Diego is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). UC San Diego Extension—like all other UC San Diego schools, colleges and departments—is accredited by WASC through the University.

Founded in 1917, it is part of the University of California system, and all courses are approved by the University of California, Los Angeles, although it is financially self-supporting. UCLA Extension is accredited, through UCLA, by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
Many UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies courses can be transferred to UC San Diego or other colleges or universities. The transfer of credit is determined solely by the receiving institution.
All courses completed, and grades and units earned at a UC campus during fall, winter, spring and summer at a UC campus are transferable to another UC campus (however, some UC Extension courses may not be transferable).

You will have 15 months to complete the Program but may request up to two six month extensions; the fee for each such extension is $95.00. Upon successful completion of the Program academic requirements and fulfillment of your financial obligations, you will be awarded a Penn Foster Program diploma.
With the online University and Professional Studies (UPS) program you may take 1, 2, or 3 UC San Diego main campus or UC San Diego Extension courses virtually. Study with American students or professionals at the Bachelor's or Master's level, across nearly all departments at UC San Diego.
