About Lewis University

Lewis University originated in July 1931 when German Franciscan Brothers Lewis, Hildolph, and Fabian arrived in Romeoville to develop the Holy Name Technical School for young men. On January 2, 1935, it was renamed the Lewis Holy Name School of Aeronautics after Frank J. Lewis. After WWII ended, it became the Lewis College of Science & Technology.

Lewis University Accreditation Details

On March 18, 2019, Lewis University successfully submitted to an in-depth evaluation visit by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (HLC-NCA) to renew the Institutional Status Report for current Level V accreditation through 2029 under the 10th president, Dr. David Livingston.

Lewis University Application Requirements

Enrolling at Lewis University is classified “moderately difficult” by Peterson’s because only 2,932 of the 5,447 Fall 2018 applicants were chosen for selective 54 percent acceptance. Prospective post-grad Flyers must have completed at least 120 bachelor’s-level credits at regionally accredited institutions.

Tuition and Financial Aid

For 2018-19, Lewis University had an average full-time graduate tuition of $14,400 annually. The School of Graduate, Professional & Continuing Education priced most programs at $800 per credit. Online Criminal Justice MS cohorts pay $580 per credit. Education MEd courses are priced $640 per credit.
