2. Google Chrome versions 42+, Mozilla Firefox versions 52+, and Microsoft Edge don't support NPAPI-type plug-ins, including Java plug-ins and many media browser plug-ins. Blackboard doesn't support these browsers for using embedded media types that require third-party NPAPI plug-ins for viewing.
Internet History and Cache Sometimes, this stored data can create problems for Blackboard users trying to login to the system. If you are experiencing “Session Already Running” errors or are unable to view certain web content, try clearing your Internet history and/or cache.
Chromebooks don't use an operating system that is supported by Blackboard, but many features will work. You may need to use a computer for some courses or assignments, especially those where 3rd party content has been added. Recommended Browser We strongly recommend Blackboard students use the latest version of Mozilla Firefox for Windows or Mac because it is the most compatible with our current Blackboard systems.
The Windows version of the Blackboard app is no longer supported and was removed from the Microsoft Store on December 31, 2019. The iOS and Android versions of the app are supported and get regular updates.
Blackboard recommends JRE versions 7 and 8 for features that depend on it. JRE version 6 might work but could result in unexpected behavior. Oracle has acknowledged some security issues with JRE version 6. Blackboard Learn does not require any other browser plug-ins.
The new Windows 10 browser, Microsoft Edge, is listed as being supported by Blackboard. At this time the GVSU Blackboard Support group recommends Firefox, Chrome or Safari. A list of Blackboard supported browsers can be found here.Jan 1, 2018

Chromebooks use the Chrome operating system which is not a supported operating system for Blackboard. Some areas of Blackboard require Java on your computer, and Chromebooks do not support the use of Java.
Depending on the course and the requirements of the course, students using Chromebooks may be able to fully access the course or access just portions of the course. The reason for the varied levels of access is: Chromebook doesn't support all plugins and functionality found in traditional computers.
