Do you have to add students to your blackboard?

Generally speaking, you should not have to add students who are enrolled in your course to its Blackboard section. As long as the student has registered on time, they should be enrolled in your Blackboard course on Day 1.

Can you remove a user from a course?

Due to legal mandates, Educational Technology staff can only add/remove users from your course with explicit written permission from the instructor. It is therefore more efficient and safer for the instructor to manage the course membership by themselves.

Can you delete a student from a course?

There is no way to “delete” a user from your course. You can only set the course to be “not available” to an individual user. More likely you may to need to change the availaability setting for a student from unavailable to available.

Why is Blackboard Learn important?

Because Blackboard Learn often shares data with other systems on campus, such as the registrar's office, it may be necessary to ensure that your information is the same everywhere. In this case, your institution will have a different way to change your information. Contact your institution to learn more.

What happens if you change your password on Blackboard?

When you change your password, all other sessions end to protect your security. If your account is logged in on another browser, the session is terminated and you need to log in again.

What to do if you forgot your password?

If you forgot your password, you can use the Forgot Your Password? link on the login page. You must complete one of the two options on the Lost Password page to obtain a new password. After you submit your information, you can create your new password based on instructions you receive in an email.

Can an instructor reveal the correct answers to an auto scored question?

Your instructor may choose not to reveal the correct answers to automatically scored questions until all students have submitted. A banner appears at the top of the assessment with this information. Check back later to see if answers have been revealed.

Can you submit multiple attempts on a course?

For offline submissions, you can't submit multiple attempts and your instructor can't add a time limit. When your instructor assigns a grade, you're notified in your activity stream. On your Course Grades page, your grade appears with Submitted offline.

Can you view a rubric before a test?

If your instructor added a rubric for grading to a test, you can view it before you open the test and after you start the attempt. Select This item is graded with a rubric to view the rubric.

How to see your grade in a submission?

In the Submission panel, you can see which attempts have grades and feedback. Select the attempt you want to view. Your submission opens, and you can view your grade and how it was calculated. You can review your work and expand the Feedback panel if your instructor left comments.

Can you see zeros on a work you haven't submitted?

If set up by your instructor, you may see zeros for work you haven't submitted after the due date passes. You can still submit attempts to update your grade. Your instructor determines grade penalties for late work.

Can you leave a recording on your assessment?

Your instructor can leave a video or audio recording for additional feedback on your assessment grade. Recordings appear in the Feedback panel when your instructor assigns a grade for each submission.

Automatically Entered Grades

Tests are (in most cases) assessed by Blackboard, and grades are automatically recorded in the Grade Center. If a Test or Assignment allows for multiple attempts, the instructor may choose which attempt to use.

Modify Grades

1. Click on the cell with the existing grade, and type in another grade. Check the Grade Information Bar above Points Possible and Primary Display.

Exempt Grades

The Grade Center has added the ability to drop or exempt a grade from total calculations.
