Blackboard includes the digital plagiarism detection program, SafeAssign, which has been merged with the Assignment tool. SafeAssign assignments are now an option within the Blackboard Assignment Tool.
Scores between 15 percent and 40 percent: These papers include extensive quoted or paraphrased material or they may include plagiarism. These papers should be reviewed to determine if the matching content is properly attributed.
The system will highlight matched text, even if the resource has been properly referenced in the reference list at the end of the assignment. However, it acts as a useful reminder to cross check the resources that have been quoted/used in the text to ensure that they have been acknowledged.
Open the Details & Information panel and select View Originality Report. If your instructor allowed multiple attempts, SafeAssign analyzes all of your attempts separately. You can find the Originality Report for each attempt on the Submission panel.
If you've properly paraphrased or quoted and correctly cited the source, you are not committing plagiarism. However, the word correctly is vital. In order to avoid plagiarism, you must adhere to the guidelines of your citation style (e.g. APA or MLA).
