Computer Recommendations by Major

If you're looking to buy a new computer for college, your major may have specific recommendations or requirements for technology. OHIO's Bobcat Depot has technology recommendations based on college and major.

Blackboard

Blackboard is OHIO’s learning management system. It is an online service for posting course-related materials and facilitating interactions between students, instructors, teaching assistants, and guests.

VoiceThread

VoiceThread is a cloud-based application that allows you to upload, share and discuss documents, presentations, images, audio files and videos. Instructors may use VoiceThread in your Blackboard courses.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a team-based collaboration tool that provides group chat, channeled conversations, instant messaging, live document collaboration, audio or video calls, and meetings.

Proctortrack

Proctortrack allows students to take a proctored exam on their own devices from a location of their choosing, if the feature has been enabled by the instructor in the Blackboard course. A student will need a computer with a webcam and access to a well-lit room.

When is the Spring 2021 graduation ceremony?

This is a separate event from the formal Spring Commencement Ceremonies held on the Athens campus beginning on Thursday, April 29th through Monday, May 3rd.

Do you have to do a personal health screening at graduation?

Personal Health Screening: All guests entering the Graduation Recognition Ceremony area are advised to conduct a personal health screening before arriving to campus. Those who feel ill, have symptoms consistent with COVID-19, have been exposed to someone with symptoms of COVID-19, have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, or who have tested positive themselves, must stay home. Testing at Ohio University Eastern

At this time, individual placement and program entrance testing is postponed. Testing services are not available for groups of students or for exams for entire class sections.

Ohio University leaders share updated COVID-19 protocols for fall

In just under three weeks, Ohio University will begin face-to-face classes and return to a more normal learning environment. Dr. David Rohall, Dean of OHIO Eastern said he and the faculty and staff are looking forward to students return to in person classes this fall.

West Virginia residents now qualify for in-state tuition at Ohio University campuses

Starting fall 2021, most West Virginia residents will qualify for in-state tuition for courses taken on Ohio University campuses, including Ohio University Eastern.

Matthew Fox named Associate Director of Nursing at Ohio University Eastern

In his position, Fox will teach within the nursing curriculum throughout the year and supervise the nursing faculty and office staff. He will draw on his previous nine years’ experience at Ohio University Zanesville as he continues to expand the new nursing program at OHIO Eastern.

OHIO Eastern awards faculty with emeritus status

Ohio University has recently awarded emeritus status to retired professors Dr. David Castle, formerly of Barnesville, OH, and Dr. Robert Galbreath of Triadelphia, WV, honoring their 43 years of combined service on the Eastern campus.

COVID-19 Testing Pathway Program:Your questions answered

Students, faculty, and staff on regional and extension campuses can pick up Vault Health at-home test kits on each campus. Individuals may take their tests by logging into Zoom at home, in any available campus facility, or in their vehicle.

Membership

Membership in the Ohio University Eastern Campus Fitness Center is available to members of the campus community and to the general public. Rates are available for individuals and for families. (Rates are subject to change without notice. Check at the Fitness Center for current rates and information.)

Free for Students

The Fitness Center is free for all Ohio University Eastern Campus students.

Silver Sneakers is at the OUE Fitness Center

Silver Sneakers participants are welcome to use the OUE Fitness Center with no out-of-pocket costs. A Silver Sneakers membership card is required.

The facilities of the Ohio University Eastern Campus Health and Physical Education Center are available for rental.

When is the deadline for completing an incomplete?

In order to give students more flexibility if they need to take an incomplete (I) for a course or courses, the deadline for completing an incomplete will be extended until the last day of class of the Fall 2020 semester. When the final grade of the incomplete is posted, students will have 5 business days to opt into an S grade if they earn an A to C- and the course is not exempt. Similar to the above, unless the course is exempt, grades of D+ to D- will be automatically converted to an S, and F grades will convert to a NC grade. If the incomplete is not resolved prior to the last day of the Fall 2020 semester, the I grade will be converted to a NC grade.

When will the S/NC exemptions be available?

Exempted courses will be listed on the Registrar’s website by April 8, 2020.

  • Students who plan to participate in the Spring 2022 Graduation Recognition Ceremony need to complete the RSVP form by Friday, April 1, 2022. All graduates will have the opportunity to have guests attend this ceremony. If you or your guest(s) require accessibility accommodations, please provide this information on the RSVP form. RSVP

  • Guest may take photos during the ceremony, but we ask that they remain seated during the ceremony so not to disturb other guest who are trying to see their graduate.
