Fully online courses (with no real-time meetings or campus attendance requirements):
Hybrid courses have reduced time spent in the classroom and either (a) the rest of the work may be done online or (b) the rest of the meeting time takes place in real-time using technology like Zoom.
Hyflex courses are new at SF. These courses allow students to choose how they attend: coming to class on campus, attending virtual lectures in real-time using technology like Zoom, or viewing online recordings of classes. Students can switch how they attend each class depending on what they need.
This term is used when you don’t have any reduced time in a physical classroom, but your instructor still includes many online components to the course, such as handouts, course notes, quizzes, a grade book and other tools to enhance learning and make course materials accessible 24/7.
