Both instructors and students need to configure their computer before Proctorio will function. If students do not install Proctorio, they will not be able to take a Blackboard test that requires it. Proctorio has provided a full setup guide for faculty with videos.
Log into Canvas using Chrome, select the appropriate course, and then go to Settings > Navigation. Locate and enable Proctorio Secure Exam Proctor and then click the Save button at the bottom of the page. 4. To turn on Proctorio for a quiz, navigate to Quizzes > +Quiz.

Chrome has a permission system for its extensions that requires Chrome to declare the permissions they to read and manage data. You can disable this setting once the exam is over, but you will need to re-enable it the next time you take an exam with Proctorio.Jun 29, 2021
Ensure Chrome is updated. Remove the Proctorio extension by right-clicking on the Proctorio shield in Chrome and choosing "Remove from Chrome..." Reinstall the Proctorio extension by visiting getproctorio.com. Clear Chrome cache.

No. Proctorio cannot detect phones, but the webcam will show if you are gazing down or to the side to use a phone.
Does Proctorio monitor eye movements? No. Proctorio does not track eye movements, but we may use facial detection to ensure test takers are not looking away from their exam for an extended period of time. This simply detects the presence of a face interacting with the exam window.
Proctorio records the reasons why exam attempts ended to give full context as to what happened during the exam. Attempts that were ended for suspicious reasons will contain a red flag within the Gradebook row.
