Select the login button; it is the blue button located in the center of the screen.. 3. The next screen that opens should be the official New Paltz login screen with the wording “LOGIN NEWPALTZ.EDU.”
Blackboard is the official Learning Management System (LMS) at SUNY New Paltz. A Blackboard course site is generated every semester for every course and course sites are widely used as a part of seated and hybrid courses and as the sole platform for a majority of our online course offerings.
User Responsibility: All users are responsible for logging in to Blackboard with their own New Paltz User ID. Whenever Blackboard is used in a public lab, users must remember to logout and restart their computer to prevent others from accessing their Blackboard account.
Requirements and Prerequisites: Student work and information contained in Blackboard is protected; information will only be given to authorized users. Course content is the intellectual property of individual faculty members and will not be provided to anyone else without express written permission.

Before wall-sized chalkboards existed, late 18th-century students used their own mini boards made of slate or painted wood, according to Concordia University. Those first boards were, in fact, black, and they paved the way for the larger ones.
Causing Friction. Chalkboards have been used in educational settings for more than 200 years. Originally made from slate, they are now constructed of less expensive porcelain enameled steel. Many faculty members prefer them because they like the feel of the friction between the chalk and the board.

Glass whiteboards will not become stained over time like the others. There are many options when it comes to whiteboards. They can be magnetized, come pre-printed with custom graphics, and even can come in colors other than white.
While some faculty believe that dry-erase markers are more user friendly than chal k (markers take less effort and pressure than writing on a chalkboard), others cite concerns with the boards and their markers: dry-erase markers have a strong smell; the markers always dry out; the markers can leave ghosted lines behind.
