TurningPoint Update – Fall 2018

TurningPoint in all classrooms and CLCs is being upgraded to the next version (8.5) for Fall 2018. This version has a few nice new features, such as better tools for participant list management. The basic functions for creating clickers questions remain the same.

TurningPoint Cloud Upgrading to TurningPoint 8.2 for Fall 2017

USING CLICKERS IN SPRING 2016?

TurningPoint Cloud Services Restored

TurningPoint Cloud account services appear to be restored for the time being. However, it is possible for services to be intermittent for several hours until all required emergency maintenance has been performed. EdTech will continue to monitor the situation.

Create a course

Click on + Create and enter the name of your course. Then click Create. A new course sub-folder is automatically created in the Classes folder.

Select "Blackboard Learn" for "Roster Source," enter your "Primary Institution" and click "Save"

Select Blackboard Learn from the Roster Source menu. After clicking Save, you will receive an alert reminding you that your course roster will not appear in the gradebook until you sync it from Blackboard or add the correct file to your course folder. This is completed in the next step.

Navigate to your course in Blackboard

Log into Blackboard and select the course you are using iClicker with from the My Courses list.

Open Full Grade Center

On the left side of the screen, under Control Panel, click Grade Center then select Full Grade Center .

Import grades file into iClicker

There are two possible methods of importing the gradebook file into iClicker.

Sync registrations in the iClicker Gradebook

After selecting Open Gradebook on the iClicker main menu, click Sync .

Export iClicker Gradebook

When you are ready to upload your iClicker polling data into Blackboard, Open Gradebook and click Export .

What is a clicker?

Clickers. Student Response System (SRS) is a technology which allows faculty to receive immediate feedback from students wirelessly with the use of small handheld devices commonly referred to as 'clickers' (displayed below).

Does Turning Point have a training?

In addition to periodic workshops on clickers hosted by Faculty Development & Instructional Design Center, Turning Technologies also offers TurningPoint Cloud training in the form of a user guide, tutorials, instructor-led online classes, and self-paced training. All of these trainings are offered at no cost to faculty using TurningPoint and clickers. The instructor-led online classes are available multiple times each week and are typically an hour in length. These trainings are highly recommended for faculty looking to use clickers for the first time or to learn how to use the new upgraded software.

Can you import a student roster into iClicker?

You can import your student roster (complete with registration data) into iClicker so polling data can be credited to your students. It is recommended that you Sync Roster after drop/add periods are over in order to keep your roster up-to-date.

Can you review a student remote registration?

You can review a report of your student remote registration information using the iClicker Instructor Tools. The registration information can be searched, sorted, and filtered. Students without a registered remote can be easily sent an email reminder to register.
