In LaTeX math mode, spaces are overlooked, and letters are rendered in italics. Hence, in order to add normal text, we need special commands such as \text, \textrm, \mbx and \textnormal.

You can type in an offline simple text editor, such as Notepad or TextEdit, and then copy and paste your work into your course. Or, before you submit or save, you can copy all of the text you want to add. Select the text and right-click to copy it.
You can add content from the Content Market directly to the editor in your course's assignments, tests, and documents. In the editor, select Insert/Edit LTI Item. Select a tool to launch and browse for content to add. Or, select the plus sign on the Institution Tool's card to add the entire tool in the editor.
Using the Math Editor: An Example In the text editor, click the chevrons in the upper right-hand corner. You should see the full-text editor menu. Click on the "Math Editor" button. A new window will pop up containing the Math Editor.
In the course's editor, select the Launch Math Editor icon to open the WIRIS editor window. Based on which course view you see, your editor may have one or three rows of options. To use your keyboard to jump to the editor toolbar, press ALT + F10. On a Mac, press Fn + ALT + F10.
Blackboard features a What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) editor. This allows you to format text that you enter into Blackboard textboxes in a similar way as you would format a Microsoft Word document.
Select the Point Annotation icon in the toolbar to type comments in any place on the document. Comments are identified by a blue conversation bubble. Click and drag to highlight text, then choose to highlight or highlight and add a comment.
