Livingstone Co llege is a private, historically black, four-year college. We were founded by and are affiliated with the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. Livingstone College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the baccalaureate degree.

The first black intercollegiate football game played in America happened on the front lawn of Livingstone College on Dec. 27, 1892, in a matchup against Biddle Memorial Institute, which is now Johnson C. Smith University.
