BCTC Students may enroll in online classes offered by any of the 16 colleges that comprise the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. *IMPORTANT* In order to receive a BCTC credential, 25% of credits must come from BCTC classes.

KCTCS Learn By Term

With KCTCS Learn by Term (LbT), BCTC students may enroll in online classes offered by any of the 16 community colleges in KCTCS. Students pay tuition to their home college (Bluegrass). Locate Learn by Term classes using the Class Search feature in Student Self-Service. Leave the "College" field blank.

KCTCS Learn on Demand

KCTCS Learn on Demand (LoD) courses are offered in a self-paced format allowing students to complete work at their own pace. Some important aspects of LoD:

STEP 1: APPLY

We want to make sure that Learn on Demand is right for you. The power and flexibility of a Learn on Demand education requires a certain level of responsibility. There is no one looking over your shoulder telling you which courses to take or forcing you to complete your assignments.

STEP 2: REGISTER

Learn on Demand uses a student information system called Student Self-Service that can be accessed anytime, anywhere. Student Self-Service allows you to register for courses, choose your start dates, review your class schedule, financial aid, billing information, and pay your bill.

STEP 3: PAY

After you have registered for your courses in Student Self-Service, you will be able to pay for your tuition and charges.

What to expect in hybrid classes?

What to Expect. Students who enroll in hybrid classes should expect to complete numerous assignments online. Most instructors use Blackboard, a course management system that permits instructors and students to share files, participate in online discussions, and much more.

When do LoD classes start?

LoD courses begin on the first Monday of the semester with new course courses starting every week through up until 6 weeks remaining in the semester. Like other online classes, LoD courses must be completed by the end of the regular semester term in order to keep with Financial Aid regulations.

Time Management. Because of the limited class meetings, students who enroll in hybrid classes should be self-motivated and be able to work in dependently. Good time management skills are critical.
