The SafeAssign Global Reference Database is a separate database where students voluntarily submit copies of their papers to help prevent plagiarism. It is separate from each institution's internal database, where all papers are stored by each corresponding institution. Students are free to select the option to check their papers without submitting them to the Global Reference Database. Students are not required to submit papers to this database. They submit their papers voluntarily and agree not to delete papers in the future. Blackboard does not claim ownership of submitted papers.
Due to the ever-changing nature of the internet, there may be occasions when the SafeAssign internal search service does not yet include specific webpages or websites and as a consequence SafeAssign Originality Reports may not identify potentially matching text within student works.
Therefore, the webcam is an important tool used by Blackboard to prevent cheating during online tests or exams.
Before taking exams through Blackboard, students are required to download the Respondus LockDown Browser and install it on their computers. Students can only access the exams or tests through the special browser. While taking the test, the student is locked to the tab containing the test questions.
If proctored, Blackboard can detect the IP address of a candidate’s computer. It achieves this by accessing the computer’s web activities and public IP addresses. However, the normal access to your Blackboard account may not be monitored by IP-sensitive systems.
Without proctoring software, Blackboard cannot access your webcam when you are accessing the normal assignments, submitting homework, or taking normal tests. However, when you are taking a proctored exam, Blackboard can access the webcam of your computer through the proctoring software.
Well, the Respondus LockDown Bowser protects Blackboard’s exam questions by blocking the copy-and-paste function within the browser. Can Blackboard tell when you copy and paste. As you have noted, you can only access the Blackboard’s online exams through the Respondus Bowser.
Yes, if you paraphrase without paraphrasing and citing well, Blackboard will detect that you copy-pasted. This is mostly done through the use of SafeAssign. Also, through the Respondus Monitor, Blackboard can tell when a candidate is copying and pasting material during an exam.
Blackboard cannot tell if you switch tabs if you have opened it on a normal browser. It can only detect if you are working on a proctored test or using a lockdown browser. With a proctor software, Blackboard can detect the switching of tabs or cursor movements away from an active tab.
You need these artifacts to add the integration in Citrix Workspace Microapps:
The integration requires regular access to your Blackboard instance. We recommend creating a dedicated user account: Blackboard Partner account https://docs.blackboard.com/partners/become-a-partner.
Blackboard APIs are enabled by default, we need either Blackboard Developer AMI or Blackboard Partner Account to access the APIs. The number of API requests that can be made to specific resources is limited. We recommend reviewing the following information: https://docs.blackboard.com/learn/rest/admin/groups-quotas-rates
Configure the OAuth server to read data through the Blackboard Learn integration.
Configure the OAuth client to writing back data through the Blackboard Learn integration.
Add the Blackboard Learn integration to Citrix Workspace Microapps to connect to your application. The authentication options are preselected. Ensure that these options are selected as you complete the process. This delivers out-of-the-box microapps with pre-configured notifications and actions that are ready to use within your Workspace.
After you configure the template above, you need to configure a service action correctly. For the My Grades microapp, update their host_name in the View on Blackboard button of My Grades page.
