Blackboard does seem to support inline mathematics using the same $$ delimiters, but you’ll notice that the mathematics is offset slightly from the text making it unattractive. It takes time to load the images, and Blackboard does not handle this well from the user’s perspective.

Services are easy to add in Blackboard Assist. From the navigation menu, select Assist and select Add Service. Type or copy and paste the service URL, type a description of the service, and choose the Service Category. A preview of the service appears in the Standard preview section.
Metadata about user preferences for a service such as favorites and subscription state are associated only with the anonymized identifier. There is no processing of utilization data or persona information associated with any functionality of Assist.
In the Learn Original experience, you can create a module that renders the Assist service. You can place this into either an existing or new tab. There's a new module type specific to Assist. Let's create a new Top Frame Tab just for Assist:
Blackboard does not technically support MathJax. The good news is that, for the most part, it does not get in your way. The bad news is that it does get in your students’ way. That is, when an instructor creates a “Content Item” in Blackboard, or edits the description of some other item they create, they can switch from the default richt-text editor to the HTML code editor (by finding and clicking the “HTML” button). They can then insert a javascript call to a MathJax implementation:
The Brightspace documentation notes that it uses MathML and MathJax to store and render mathematics. The documentation includes an overview page discussing LaTeX mathematics in the text editor, as well as a page with some additional details on LaTeX.
While LaTeX is an incredibly effective format for writing out mathematics that is to be typeset, it is not the only one, and it is not ideal for all circumstances. The modern standard for storing mathematics on the web is MathML. But MathML is intended to be neither human-writable nor human-readable. It is an intermediary language, designed for storage and transport. Web browser support for MathML is spotty: for example you will find that if you ask MathJax to render as MathML in Chrome, you will receive a warning that Chrome does not support MathML. Similarly, in Firefox, you will receive a warning that Firefox’s MathML renderer is not as full-featured as MathJax’s.
Edit Mode is a slider located near the top right of the page. This gives you the opportunity to see exactly what your students see (Edit Mode Off) when they log in.
This is the first page your students will see when they log into Blackboard and view the FIG Class Page. By default, this also serves as the Announcement Page. Any Announcements you create will appear on this page for the convenience of your students.
By clicking on the “Create Announcement” button from the main page, you are brought to the Create Announcement page. This is most often used for text and/or link comments that your students simply need to read. Information about assignments or course content will be discussed on later slides.
Time Options give you opportunity to tailor your Announcements by date. You can create a future announcement that will not appear to students until a certain date and remove itself from view at a certain time as well. These options are available for all Announcements, Assignments and other items you post on Blackboard.

By clicking on the Instructor Info button on the left list you are brought to the Contacts page. This is the best place to post the contact information for both you and your CoFac. (be sure to double check with your CoFac to see what is the most appropriate way for students to contact them if necessary).
By clicking on the Course Content button on the left list you are brought to the Course Content page. This is a good place to post anything that does not fit as an Announcement or an Assignment. Many professors post their class notes, web links and other useful files on this page.
