You can exempt a grade from a student's record and the grade is ignored in all Grade Center calculations. The grade cell displays the Exempt icon. You can also apply an exemption before a grade is assigned. If you assigned a grade and then exempted it, the grade remains available on the Grade Details page.
An exempt grade is one that does not affect the student's overall grade, either positively or negatively. If you give a student a 0 for a grade, their grade will drop.Sep 27, 2019
On the Review Submission History page, you can view your grade, rubric scores, and overall feedback for the Assignment as well as any in-line comments your instructor may have included.
Exempting a student means that the points for that assignment do not factor into the student's overall grade and therefore do not positively or negatively impact the student's grade.
In the Grade Center, locate the cell with the student's graded test or assignment grade to override and access its menu. Select View Grade Details. On the Grade Details page, select the Manual Override tab and type a new grade in the Override Grade box. Optionally, type Feedback to User and Grading Notes for yourself.
Click the Action Link to access the contextual menu and select View Grade Details. On the Grade Details page, under the Edit tab, locate the Clear Attempt button adjacent to the attempt of interest.
Select My Grades in the left menu bar. Your grades will appear on the page. Click on the comment bubble next to the assignment grade. Your comments will appear in a box on the screen.Jul 19, 2020

Click the Global Navigation menu, and then click the My Grades icon. 2. In the left pane of My Grades, click the Last Graded tab to display the most recently graded items at the top of the list. If necessary, click the link for the Assignment.
Exempted items are excluded from the calculation. These grade items are treated as empty grades, not as 0 if Treat Ungraded Items as 0 is turned on. If all items are exempted, there are no grades to use to calculate a final grade. The final grade will not have a score.
