The Student Learning Portal is the Michigan Virtual student information system (SIS). The site will provide capabilities for registering students in courses; documenting grading; tracking attendance; and messaging.
Parents/Guardians who wish to register students in Michigan Virtual courses will be required to setup an account in the Student Learning Portal. Both guardian and student will require a unique and valid email address when creating this account and should follow instructions outlined in the Add Student and Guardian Accounts article.
Michigan Virtual will accept credit or debit card payment types containing the Visa, Mastercard, and Discover logos through the Student Learning Portal.
Parents/Guardians will login to the Student Learning Portal and browse courses within the Course Registration page. Once courses are selected for purchase, you will submit your payment information, and the system will enroll your student into the course.
Parents/Guardians should refer to the Michigan Virtual Enrollment Calendar when selecting term start dates. Upon course registration, you will have the option to choose the available start dates.
A student’s course grades and assignments can be observed in the Student Learning Portal without accessing the Gradebook within the Learning Management System (LMS). Use the options within your Dashboard to view items such as the Activity and Course Pacing Guides and more.
A parent/guardian can request that a student be removed from their course by following the Drop Course article. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to review the Michigan Virtual Drop Policy as well as the last date refunds will be issued in the Enrollment Calendar.

When you merge a course into a single master course, its students are enrolled automatically in the merged master course. However, when students enter the course, they'll see only the course ID of the child course they were originally enrolled in. To learn more about merging courses, see Merge and Separate Courses.
If you have students who need to access a course outside of the normal term, you can override their enrollments. They'll have access to the course until the date you set.
You can change a user's role in a course at any time. For example, if an instructor needs an additional assistant during the term, you can change a user's role from Student to Teaching Assistant for that course.
Removing users from a course doesn't delete the users from Blackboard Learn. After you remove a user from a course, the user can no longer access course materials or user interactions. The user is no longer enrolled in the course. You can't automatically restore users to courses after you remove them.
To make the course available, open the course's menu and select Make Available. To make a course unavailable, open the course's menu and select Make Unavailable.
Blackboard Learn provides several reports to help you monitor user activity in forums, groups, and content areas associated with courses. You can also view reports to see which course items are aligned with specific course standards or objectives.

Course themes add a background image to the course display and change the color of the user interface, including the course menu, buttons, and controls. The theme can be changed again at any time. Applying a theme doesn't affect course content or a chosen course structure.
New content must be managed from the master course. Child courses are marked as unavailable but can be managed through the master course. To edit or manage a child course only, it needs to be separated from its master course.
There are several reasons why a course you are registered for is not visible in Brightspace Learning Environment: If you have only registered for the course within the last 24 hours, the registration may not be processed yet.
The course may not be active. Your instructor is responsible for activating the course so contact them to see when the course will be activated. The course hasn’t started. If the course has not yet started, it will not be visible in Brightspace Learning Environment.
