Open a browser and navigate to the Blackboard home page at http://www.cmu.edu/blackboard. Click the "Login" button below the wordmark. Authenticate using the Carnegie Mellon single sign-on system with an Andrew ID and password. When redirected to the Blackboard application, select a course to manage from the "My Courses" panel.

Enrollment in a Blackboard course will typically occur automatically based on registration, but users may also be added manually.
Students on the Wait List: Wait-listed students do not initially have access to the Blackboard course site. If you have important course materials that students need to see before they become automatically enrolled in the Blackboard course, you may want to manually enroll these students.
Students can use the set of communication tools provided within the "Tools" area to contact each other or the instructor via email, participate in a discussion board forum, view student pages found in the class roster, and work in groups.
The "Course Menu" is configured for each Blackboard course to reflect the tools and content to which students should have access. All course tools, assignments, and assessments should be available through the course menu.
Some Blackboard content modules, including Chat, the Formula Editor, and Virtual Classroom, are replaced with a "Error. Click for details" box. This will happen on systems running Java 7u51.
There is a patch under review for the Blackboard server, but in the meantime, a client-side workaround exists.

Some students are unable to use the My Grades tool in a Blackboard course that has graded blogs, discussion boards, journals, or wikis.
Blackboard provided a fix that was applied to our Blackboard server on September 20, 2013.
Users working in Chrome, Firefox, or Safari on a Mac and Firefox 22 on a PC can not copy and paste text from within Blackboard into another area of the Blackboard course. PC users may receive an error that indicates they should use keyboard shortcuts.
If on a PC try a different browser If on a PC try using the ctrl+c and ctrl+v instead of using the right-click menu. PC and Mac users can copy and paste content first into TextEdit or Notepad, respectively, and then copy and paste the content into Blackboard.
