Blackboard Collaborate Ultra generates a course room automatically for every course that you teach. You’ll see it as soon as you click into the Collaborate Ultra link (it will just have the name of your course). This room is always on and available to students unless you turn it off, meaning that anyone in the course can use it whenever they like, whether you’re present or not. Some instructors will like this, some will not. Depending on your preferences, you can leave it as is, or lock it through the more menu that appears to the right side of the room.
Even if you’re teaching course in a traditional classroom setting, sometimes students simply may not be able to make it to in-person office hours. Having a virtual option for office hours is an easy and attractive alternative, both for students and for you as their instructor. Not only does it make it easier for students to get the help and guidance they need, it’s also very little extra work for you to set up as an option when you use Collaborate.
