If your course is set to Private, you can make it available to students by clicking the three dots (…) and choosing Open Course. You do the same thing to make it Private. If a course is Private, students see it in their course list but they are unable to enter it. This prevents student emails.

About Course Availability

ITS automatically creates a Blackboard course for every course that is listed in the Schedule of Classes. All Blackboard courses are automatically hidden from students.

What is a blackboard course?

Your Blackboard course is your virtual classroom and YOU hold the key. When you are ready to enable student access to your virtual classroom, simply "unlock" it by making it available. When you do so, the course will be available to students beginning 2 weeks before the first day of classes for the term. Why?

When can students access Blackboard?

Provided that you make it available following the steps below, students can access your course as early as two weeks before the first day of the term. Available courses automatically become unavailable to students four weeks after the last day of classes for the term. You (instructors) have access to all of your Blackboard courses.
