How to get crayon marks off chalkboard?

Rough sponges can also damage the finish. Make a simple paste with baking soda and water. It should have the consistency of icing. Apply it to a soft clean rag, and gently rub away the crayon marks. Wipe away the baking soda with a clean rag and clear water.

Does Mr Clean Magic Eraser work?

It is not necessary to apply a lot of pressure while cleaning with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser or a similar sponge of a different brand. It will work like magic, and lots of elbow grease is not required to remove tough stains.

Step 1

Tape two layers of absorbent paper towel over the crayoned area. Heat an iron on its lowest setting. Run the iron over the paper towel-covered area until the crayon on the chalkboard melts into the towel to be absorbed by the fibers. Wash gently with degreaser afterward to remove any remaining traces of crayon.

Step 2

Use a polyester scrub sponge and a little degreaser. Gently rub degreaser over the crayoned area. Wait 10 to 15 minutes for degreaser to eat away the crayon. Wipe with water to rinse.

Step 3

Apply a 1/4-sized amount of toothpaste to a terry cloth rag. Rub in gentle circles over the crayoned area until it is gone. Be careful not to rub so hard that the finish comes off the chalkboard.

Step 4

Mix a paste of baking soda and dish liquid. Rub gently until crayon is gone.

Step 5

Repaint the chalkboard if all these methods fail to remove the crayon.

I would try Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It can get crayon off of most surfaces. If not you could try baking soda and water. Another thing to try is GooGone. But out of all of these I would try the Magic Eraser first. I would just test either of these on a corner before you use it on the whole thing in case it takes off the chalk board surface.

Hi H.,#N#Even if all these wonderful tips don't work, I hope you keep the easel and use the chalk side for taping on paper for paintings, drawings, etc. Any art work done by young children is better done on an easel than on a table, as the easel requires that the children stand and hold the brushes and crayons against the pull of gravity.

I would repaint it with chalkboard paint from the hardward, it's probably not worth the hassle of trying cleaners to remove the crayon.
