While there is not a way to receive automated emails alerting you to student non-participation, Blackboard offers several methods (other than grades) to gauge student activity. Most of these options can be found by visiting the Course Management > Evaluation area of a course.
View student activity for an assessment
Access Student Activity data from the Course Content page. Access an assessment's menu and select Student Activity. A panel with student activity information opens. You can't access Student Activity in an anonymously graded assessment's menu.
Can professors see student activity on Blackboard?

Can Blackboard detect screenshots?
In a normal assignment environment, Blackboard or Canvas cannot detect screen sharing or screenshots if a student is working on them using a normal browser. Want to learn more about a certain student? You can track students' grades and activity levels across time to see when they started to improve or slip from the Course Activity Related to Grades page.
What to expect
You'll arrive at two scatter plots. The first compares the student's activity count over time to the class average. The second compares the student's grade over time to the class average. You'll notice the student's activity and grade decrease or increase in conjunction.
Take action
Download your data. Select the Download options icon to save your data either as an image or PDF.
