The easiest way to collect assignments, papers, or files from your students is to create an Assignment in Blackboard. In Edit Mode ON click the Assignments link on your course’s homepage. Click on Assessments. On the drop-down list, click Assignment. On the Create Assignment page, enter a Name for your assignment. This is required.
To attach a file, click on the Browse Local Files to attach a file from your computer, or click Browse Course Files to att ach a file that has already been added to the course content collection.
Graders can be assigned to All Submissions, a Random Selection of graded attempts, or specific student Groups. View Settings: Check the checkbox to allow the grader to view other graders' scores, feedback, and notes. This option is checked by default for users with a role of Instructor.
Assignments are created in Content Areas, but can also be added to Learning Modules, Lesson Plans, and folders. Any instructions and file attachments that students need to complete the assignment are provided at the time of creation.
You can also browse and attach a file from your local computer if you wish. While this is completely optional, some instructors attach a journal article to their assignments, others attach an exemplar of what an exceptional student submission should look like. Again, this is optional.
To use your keyboard to jump to the editor toolbar, press ALT + F10. On a Mac, press Fn + ALT + F10. Use the arrow keys to select an option, such as a numbered list. If you're not ready to start, select Cancel. If you see View assessment instead of Start attempt, the assignment isn't timed. You don't have to submit an assignment with no time limit when you open it. If your instructor allows you to submit multiple attempts, the time limit applies to each attempt.
If your instructor allowed multiple attempts and you submit an attempt past the due date, the attempt will be marked late. Any attempts you submit before the due date aren't marked late. When you finish your assignment, you must select Submit. If you don't, your instructor won't receive your completed assignment.
If your instructor put a time limit on the assignment, you can keep track of how much time is left. A countdown appears at the bottom of your screen and warns you as the time limit gets closer.
For offline submissions, you can't submit multiple attempts and your instructor can't add a time limit. When your instructor assigns a grade, you're notified in your activity stream. On your Course Grades page, your grade appears with Submitted offline.
After you type the code, you can open the assignment. You can use the code to resume an assignment you saved. You don't need the code to view your grades and feedback posted by your instructor.
If your instructor added a rubric for grading to an assignment, you can view it before you open the assignment and after you start the attempt. Select This item is graded with a rubric to view the rubric. If you want, you can view the rubric alongside the assignment instructions.
Citations. The sources that include text that matches the submitted paper's text are listed in the right panel of the report. If Another student's paper is listed as a citation, the submission is associated with another institution and you may not be able to view it due to privacy laws.
You can review the Originality Report shortly after you submit your attempt, even before your instructor posts grades. The SafeAssign Originality Report appears next to your assignment. This is a preview of the report's results and includes three sections: Overall Risk, Overall Text Matching, and Originality Reports.

SafeAssign recognizes multiple attempts for an individual assignment as submitted by the same student for the same assignment. SafeAssign doesn't check the contents of the current attempt against content from previous submissions.

To access a Similarity Report, you must firstly access the main homepage by clicking the All Classes tab from the top of any page. From the main homepage, select the name of the class to view the class portfolio. Find the assignment inbox for the assignment you submitted to.
The similarity score is a percentage of the paper's matches to other sources; it is not an assessment of whether the paper includes plagiarized material. The similarity report is a tool for instructors and students to easily find matches or similar text within submitted work.
Turnitin compares papers against an ever expanding database of Internet pages, archived pages that might not be available any more, a sub scription repository of periodicals, journals, publications, and a repository of previously submitted papers.
You can switch on the similarity layer at any time. If the similarity score does not appear under the similarity column, your instructor may have prevented access to the similarity report by students.
