If you delete a category that contains grade items, the items will not be deleted unless you select them as well. Click Grades. Verify you are in Manage Grades (this is the default page but can be changed). Click More Actions and select Delete.

To access the Full Grade Center, first click on Grade Center in the Control Panel and then select Full Grade Center (shown below).
Locate the column that you wish to hide, and click on the chevron in the column header.
You will then see a dialog box similar to the one image above that says "Delete this column and all of its associations? This action is final and cannot be undone." Click OK to delete the column.
The only way to delete auto-created grade columns is to first delete the gradable items in your course. For some, if no student submissions exist when you delete the item, the Grade Center column is deleted automatically or you are allowed to decide whether to delete the column.
Click on Grade Center under Course Management in the lower left of your course.
A new feature in Blackboard allows faculty to delete multiple columns from the grade center at the same time. This function is best used before grade data is entered and provided the grade center columns are not associated with an assessment activity.
