Each fall approximately 200 students enter technology programs with insufficient academic skills to be able to take courses in their chosen programs. For example, a student who places into Algebra I and wishes to enrollinto either the Computer Science, Engineering Transfer, Web Development, or Computers and Telecommunications programs must wait as much as a year before taking any courses in these programs. Manyof these students never reach the level where they can begin to take such courses or may be discouraged by the mathematics and physics required (2 semesters of calculus and 2 semesters of Calculus‐based physics).
