Announcements. Announcements are an ideal way to post time-sensitive information critical to course success. Add announcements for these types of course activities: You can add, edit, and delete announcements from the Announcements page. When you add an announcement, you can also send it as an email to students in your course.
If students haven't joined a course group, that alert remains in the activity stream.
Log into your Blackboard course and go to the Course News page. Locate the box labeled My Announcements and click the more announcements link in the bottom right corner of the box.
You will now see a screen labeled Announcements. To delete an announcement, locate the one you wish to delete and hover over it. Click on the chevron button that appears to the right of the announcement name and select Delete from the menu. You will then be asked to confirm the deletion.
Blackboard features a content area type called “Homepage.’ This is a dynamic page, customized by the instructor of the course, of student-specific information. One might show upcoming due dates, another might show recent announcements. It can be a useful way for students to keep track of their tasks within a single course. I would not have recommended this option, but my mother is an online student and she says that this page is extremely important to her ability to keep up with her assignments by knowing what needs to be done when. This option may work for some courses that rely heavily on Blackboard for assignment release and grading, and where the bulk of student work and interaction happens inside of Blackboard.
