Zoom is an enterprise video collaboration platform used for remote instruction.
Class teams have unique permissions and features for teachers and students. As owners of the team, teachers assign work, share class content, and control who can post in the team. Each class team is also linked to its own class notebook in OneNote.
Use Google Shared Drive to store, search, and access files within a class. Shared drive files belong to the instructor and allow you to organize your documents by class.
When faculty use ODU's Course Collaboration Tool to set up Zoom meetings, Microsoft Teams or shared Google Drives for their courses, students enrolled in those courses can access the collaboration tools from within the myODU portal or from within the course in Blackboard.
First, you'll complete the ODU Online Orientation, then you'll meet with your student success director and register for classes.
You will be automatically enrolled in the ODU Online New Student Orientation within 24 hours of accepting your admission and activating your MIDAS and student email accounts.
The orientation consists of three modules full of tips, resources, and need-to-know policies.

Blackboard is ODU's learning management system , so your instructor will probably upload materials and assignments there. For live classes, ODU supports the Zoom and Webex web conferencing apps. Zoom and Webex both work in a web browser, which means you don't have to download any additional software.
Choose a specific place in your home where you can do class work without any distractions. Try to avoid areas that are frequently occupied by others, like the living room or family room. Make sure you have plenty of light. If needed, add a lamp, table or chair to help you stay comfortable while you work.
If you do not see a meeting day or time listed, then your class will have few or no live meetings. You will access your course space online and complete assignments according to your professor's instructions.
ProctorU. ProctorU is an online service that provides a human proctor to observe your online exam. It's the online version of having your instructor at the front of the classroom while you complete the exam. With ProctorU, each student schedules a specific day and time to take their online exam.
Spring 2021 Class Delivery. Most classes originally scheduled to be held face-to-face on campus have been moved to an online format for the beginning of the Spring 2021 term. A limited number of courses and labs that require in-person hours may still meet. Faculty will reach out to students in these programs with more information.
