Blackboard is not an e-mail system; it simply provides a way for you to send e-mail from an already established e-mail account to your instructor and students. When someone from your class sends you an e-mail from within Blackboard, it will go to your preferred e-mail account. You will need to go to that e-mail system to read the message.
Note that changing your preferred email account in Blackboard does not change it in any other system in the University.
If you do not use your official e-mail account (email.sc.edu, usca.edu, etc) regularly, you will probably also want to forward messages from your official account to one you use regularly because messages from the administrative units in the University, such as the Registrar, are generally sent to your official e-mail address.
Remember that mail is technically being sent to and from the e-mail account you have listed in Blackboard.

You can only send Blackboard Email from within a course and only if the instructor has made the email tool available on a link in the course menu. If the instructor is using the Blackboard Email system, then you will receive those messages via your UALR Email account.
